This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with similar services. It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Updates Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Stories A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Manual Updates A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
